Kitchen Table Help

If you are on webtv or a Mac, these instructions won't help. I know NOTHING about either of them...*grin*

Instructions For Posting Gifs

*** IMPORTANT ***

Some websites are only allowed so many "hits" to their pages. If they ask you not to link to their pages...PLEASE DON'T! If you use a gif from their page, each person that views that gif shows up as a "hit" to the original site and the owner of the page has to pay for hits over their allotted amount. Also, some gifs are copyrighted or "owned" by the creator. Read the fine print before you use gifs off of any webpage and you should be fine.

Okay - On to the Instructions

FOR NETSCAPE USERS

Print these out and try it:

Go to http://www.nidlink.com/~ireland/Angels1.htm

RIGHT click on the first little angel
Click on View Image (it will open up the gif in a new window)
Move your cursor up to the address in the "location" window and click
your left mouse key after the address - it should highlight the whole address
Now hit Ctrl C - this will copy the address to your clipboard
Now go to The Kitchen Table
Click on post new message
In the message box hit Ctrl V - this will "paste" the address you just
copied. It should look just like this:

Now add <img src=" to the beginning of the address and "> to the end of the address. It should look just like this:

Now click on Preview Messsage - the angel should be in your post - now just Submit it.

Keep trying - before you know it you'll be stealing gifs from any page you like! *grin*

Note: Some message boards don't have the "Preview" option. You just have to "Submit" and hope for the best! *grin*

FOR INTERNET EXPLORER USERS

Print these out and try it:

Go to http://www.nidlink.com/~ireland/Angels1.htm

RIGHT click on the first little angel
Click on Properties
Move your cursor up to the URL address and highlight the whole address - (do this by putting your cursor on the first letter, hold your mouse key down and drag it across the address until the whole thing is highlighted) it should start with "http" - don't copy the words "address or URL"
RIGHT click - this will bring up a drop down menu
Click on Copy
Hit Cancel to close the properties box
Now go to The Kitchen Table
Click on post new message
In the message box RIGHT click your mouse (this will bring up a drop down menu)
Click on Paste

It should look just like this:

Now add <img src=" to the beginning of the address and "> to the end
of the address. It should look just like this:

Now click on Preview Messsage - the angel should be in your post -
now just Submit.

To change the size of your fonts:

DON'T FORGET TO CLOSE!!!

To send gifs by email in Internet Explorer (Outlook Express):

First you have to save the gif to your computer. To do this:

RIGHT click on the gif you want to send
Click on Save Picture As
Make sure you save it in a folder (and with a name) you'll remember
(You could create a folder named Gifs and keep them all in the same folder)

To send it:

Go ahead and address your mail like you normally do
When your cursor is where you want the image to appear in the message box
Click on Insert
Click on Picture
Click on Browse
Find the folder you saved the gif in
Find your gif and click on it (it should appear in the File Name box)
Click on Open (this will take you back to the Picture box - your gif should be in the Picture Source box)
Click on OK
Your gif should be right there in the body of your message

You can practice by sending emails to yourself ~ some people may not be able to receive them. It depends on what email program they use and/or how they have their preferences set for receiving messages.

To send gifs by email in Netscape Communicator (Netscape Messenger):

First you have to save the gif to your computer. To do this:

RIGHT click on the gif you want to send
Click on Save Image As

(You could create a folder named Gifs and keep them all in the same folder)

To send it:

Go ahead and address your mail like you normally do
When your cursor is where you want the image to appear in the message box
Click on Insert
Click on Image
Click on Choose File
Find the folder you saved the gif in
Find your gif and click on it (it should appear in the File Name box)
Click on Open (this will take you back to the Image Properties box - your gif should be in the Image Location box)
Click on OK
Your gif should be right there in the body of your message
